A Cynical Look at Rejecting Socialism

The left is often bashed with the "s word", derogatory socialism thing. However, though, if socialism was truly removed, would ordinary folks help people? I say they wouldn't. There's always excuses. It's too much money. What about my insurance going up (in housing homeless etc.)?

Do you feel a post-socialist world could help the poor etc., if it decided they still needed to be helped?
