    Snake Road

Today, I hiked around 6 miles on Snake Road, a 2.5-mile gravel road in the Illinois Shawnee National Forest.

They call it that because twice a year, the Forest Services closes it to vehicles so that snakes can migrate across. In the fall, they go into the bluffs to hibernate, and in the spring, they go into the swamps.

As a wildlife lover, it's an amazing thing to see. I also like snakes.

This is the only road in the world that does this.

Would YOU visit and walk the road?
