    Eggs

How much are eggs where you live?

They're expensive in the USA for most people because of Bird Flu.

However, I'm blessed enough to live in the country where a lot of farmers raise their own chickens. We've been paying anywhere from $2 to $4 for a couple a dozen of farm fresh eggs.

Personally, I think farm fresh eggs have a better taste and texture.

How about you all? What are you paying?

I'm fortunate that my young cousin and her husband have chickens. They give us however many we want and always have a ton to spare that they give away to neighbors. But the last time I looked in Safeway, they were about $9/dozen. NO thank you!

      It's crazy.

We also get our hamburger from local farmers. Hardly any grease - tastes better too.

Currently, we are paying $6 for a crate of egg down here. It's 30 pieces of eggs in one crate.

It wasn't this expensive before until last year 2024.

Yes of course, we have had several serious cases of bird flu. The first time it surfaced here was February 2006. It killed over 890,000 birds that year and also by January 2007, we had the first human who died from H5N1 case. It was a 22 years old women who was living in Lagos the same state I'm staying in currently. It was around 2008 that the flu outbreak was controlled.

The same H5N1 resurfaced again 2015-2017 in which saw more 1.8 million poultry was affected. More than 1 million birds died. Recently, over 110,000 crates of eggs was destroyed as a result of being exposed to bird flu.
