I believe people should have the right to own guns, but I also think there should be some stricter rules and regulations in owning firearms. I don't think those who own a firearm legally should have their guns removed, but this will never happen no matter who's in office because the constitution will need to be rewritten if that was the case. Those with a criminal background or those who were admitted to a mental facility should not be allowed to own a gun. Though the dark web exists and makes things tricky since you can illegally obtain a firearm there. It's a tough situation IMO. I'm all for one using a firearm to protect myself and I think responsible gun owners should be able to continue doing so.
It's a tough topic. On one hand, obviously easier access to semi-automatic weapons, which are not for hunting, only for killing humans, will result in more deaths, but on the other hand, I'm not sure if society is addressing things which cause people to want to kill others.
I have a lot of friends who have AR-15s. They don't go around killing people. It's usually someone who was bullied in school or is suffering from some kind of mental health thing.
I own guns. I have a 22 rifle and multiple handguns. I don't an AR. I don't feel a need for one. My 45 will stop any home intruder just as much as an AR. Heck, my 22 would do the job but I know the 45 will definitely do it.
I think better background checks are definitely needed.

What's needed is airport security at school. I'm not sure, though, if taxpayers could handle it.
