Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez has been sentenced to 5 years in prison after pleading no contest to attempted murder from a 2022 shooting.
According to Cain Velasquez, he admitted that he didn't handle things very well at the time.
California... so he's get good behavior, be out in 2.5-years maybe?
Almost cease someone's existence and get a couple of years in the pen.
Wow.
If you're a career criminal, Seattle is the place to call home. You can commit a crime and be out by dinner time as long as you promise not to do it again.

That's starting to be the case in Illinois, too. Chicago especially.
In the past in the US, (in regard to lynchings) the criminal justice system was too harsh, but now in many areas it's too soft.
Way too soft.
You can get away with serial killing in some states. Sure, you'll go to prison forever and get fed and housed for free but you keep your life while you took others away from them.

The Green River Killer is a prime example. He murdered between 70 and 90 people and was given a life sentence. Honestly, someone capable of that kind of brutality shouldn’t be allowed to live among the rest of us.

They really shouldn't. Someone who kills 70 to 90 humans will never rehabilitate.

Absolutely agree with you! It's in that kind of cases that I'm in support of giving the death penalty because there's no way the person deserves to stay alive.

What about such offenders that would rather die than face a life of prison? Would you then give them a death they want, or force them to live a life in prison?

If the death penalty is on the card for the crime they committed, that should be what they get but if life in prison, they can take their own life in prison for all I care.
Life in prison just means that we (taxpayers) are paying for their confinement.
Spot on! Funny enough, some of them enjoy their lives in there except for having their freedom. They need to be adding hard labor to their life imprisonment.

They should.
In America, everyone wants "Made in America" but it also means it will be way more expensive because of labor costs, etc.
I say make inmates make the really expensive stuff and then labor costs doesn't get countered into it. They don't need to get paid for doing it. They did the crime, they can do the time.
